The chapters of the documentary so you can watch it in a more flexible and comfortable way
1. Sustainable energy and mobility
Millions of barrels of oil are used every day, as well as incredible amounts of gas, coal and other materials.
Fossil fuels have enabled us to grow to unimaginable levels, but at a high ecological cost.
We are reaching the peak of their production. A production controlled by large oligopolies.
We depend on these resources for practically everything, which makes us extremely vulnerable.
It is therefore necessary to redesign our energy model. But, what kind of energy transition?
The transport of goods and people accounts for approximately 20% of global energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
A centralized model based on large infrastructuresthat connects large cities and isolates the rural world.
When facing a future of energy scarcity, rethinking mobility is essential.
2. Transformative economies
The capitalist economic system, based on unlimited growth, is at the root of the current eco-social crisis.
It is an inequitable and unsustainable system.
The 1% of the population accumulates nearly 50% of the wealth, and large corporations have more power than entire countries.
Its impact on people and on the climate is evident: wars, climate crisis, famine…
We need to build new economies that are at the service of people and the planet
3. Food sovereignty
The agri-food industry is one of the most polluting sectors.
It causes the destruction of ecosystems and the loss of the planet’s biodiversity, and with it the spread of diseases and pandemics. We are on the verge of the sixth mass extinction.
Food is understood as a commodity, and its prices are dependent on the world’s main stock exchanges. This leads to the impoverishment of the land and farmers, as well as to an increase of hunger in the world.
4. Community life
Speculation and high prices make it increasingly difficult to have access to decent housing.
We live in individualized spaces, isolated from others.
Simultaneously, energy consumption in the real estate sector is among the highest and must be reduced.
Is it possible to live in a more collective and sustainable way?
5. ecosocial transition
Faced with a situation of possible collapse, transitioning to a different system is inevitable.
We have the great responsibility to define what kind of transition we want.
A centralized transition like the one proposed by the institutions under the European green new deal, which is based on digitalisation and green growth, and it has a great ecological impact.
Or an ecosocial transition to a more humane scale, fairer and more inclusive, based on relocating the economy and building local resilience.
A transition that is built with head, hands and heart.
6. Regenerative cultures
We live in what is known as the Anthropocene, a geological era in which humanity has changed the planet and the history of life.
It is not enough to do things sustainably, to stop doing more damage and sustain what there is.
We rather need to heal the earth and the ecosystems, the cities and the communities, we even need to heal ourselves.
We need to kick-start a regenerative process at the natural, community and personal level, to create a livable and equitable future for all life.
